of estate, this
country club combines
the perfect Golf
‘n Game

The course was
carved out of
an undulating
rocky terrain
and has a classical
African feel.
Even the clubhouse,
which blends in
perfectly, has
been modeled on
the Zimbabwe ruins,
an ancient mystical
city in the heart
of Africa.
South African
golfing legend
and course designer,
Gary Player, believes
that he has created
one of the top
courses in the
world at the Lost
City, with its
desert style front
nine and out-of
Africa back nine.
The back nine
is your golf safari
with only a fence
separating the
golfers from the
untamed African
countryside that
is the Pilanesberg
Game Reserve. |

The Glendower
Country club
is a must play
for any golfer
visiting the
area. The golf
course is not
only one of
the oldest but
is also rated
as one of the
best in the
Johannesburg
area and belongs
in the top 10
rated course
in South Africa.
This challenging,
well-designed
golf course
is superbly
manicured and
is situated
in aesthetically
pleasing natural
surroundings.
Glendower was
declared a natural
conservation
in 1973 to protect
the abundance
of bird life
and lush vegetation
on the course.

The Dainfern Club
course was designed
by golfing legend
Gary Player, who
incorporated the
Jukskei River
and valley in
his design. A
number of holes
cross the river
and water is a
prominent feature
of the course,
which plays 6
580 metres long
and is a par 72.
Dainfern is situated
half an hour away
from the hustle
and bustle of
Johannesburg and
also houses a
residential estate.

The two 18
hole layouts
at 'Royal' are
among the best
courses in Johannesburg.
Royal was built
in 1933 and
the championship
East layout
has been frequent
host to the
South African
Open. They are
both long courses
and at first
glance an intimidating
prospect for
most visitors
until you remember
that at Johannesburg's
high altitude
the ball travels
10% further.
The courses
have a tree
lined parkland
layout with
gentle undulations
rather than
abrupt slopes.

The Country Club
Johannesburg has
two courses, the
Woodmead and the
Woodlands. The
Woodmead is the
older and also
the better championship
test. Upgraded
in 2001 by Golf
Data, it is vastly
improved. Built
on a large area
of land, there
is a wonderful
feeling of space
on every hole.
Ranked No 40 in
South Africa in
2003.

After having his
home on the land
for more than
25 years, Gary
Player had plenty
of time to visualise
this championship
course on the
banks of the Crocodile
River. With water
on 11 holes, this
course will challenge
low handicappers,
without detracting
from the enjoyment
of those less
accomplished.
The views of the
Magalies’
mountains, the
oldest range in
the world, and
the Cradle of
Mankind, will
provide spectacular
distraction. At
over 7700m from
the black tees,
it is currently
the longest course
in South Africa,
but an experience
that really should
not be missed.

Below is a selection of courses from

we will happily arrange a round at any course in the
region.
The Gauteng area is also home to a number of game
farms, all malaria-free and suitable for a visit all
year round. Choices available are:

have included a small number of 5 star options, but
should you wish to stay somewhere a little more modest,
we would be glad to accommodate any request.
